Music and Cognitive Neuroscience - Applied Positive Psychology
I'm Amelia, a country-pop inspired artist and coach with a degree in Cognitive Neuroscience and Applied Positive Psychology. My work lives at the intersection of storytelling and psychology, where music becomes a way to process lived experience, and coaching becomes a way to help people feel heard, seen, and supported as they move toward what truly matters to them.
I was born in India and adopted to Sweden at an early age. Growing up, I learned how to adapt quickly and perform well, often appearing llike I had everything together. I was bullied a lot in school for my big visions and my musical ability, which slowly taught me to live my life through the lense of what others might think. I constantly questioned whether what I did, or who I was, was good enough or whether I would be misunderstood.
Music became the place where I could be honest before I knew how to be brave.
I grew up on Scandinavian pop before discovering American country, and somewhere in between I found a sound rooted in honesty, melody and emotional presence. Over the years, I've performed more than 250 shows across Sweden and spent time writing and performing in Nashville, appearing on radio in both Sweden and the U.S. I've played stages such as the Bluebird Café, 3rd and Lindsley, and the Smoky Mountains Songwriters Festival. In 2024, I participated in Swedish Idol, an experience that challenged my identity far more than my ability.
Not making it as far as I'd hoped broke something open in me. I compared myself relentlessly, questioning my worth, and felt like a fraud even as opportunities appeared around me. For a long time, all I could hear was "if you were really good enough, they would have chosen you"
What took time to understand was that it wasn't about my ability - I simply didn't fit their frame. And not fitting a frame doesn't make you less valuable. A diamond is still a diamond, even if it doesn't match the setting.
Around the same period, prolonged stress and anxiety due to many changes, in combination with very little sleep, caught up with my body. Everything culminated in severe physical sympotms and a heart-muscle inflammation diagnosis in early 2023. I was forced to stop everyhing, I was put on strict bed rest, and was barely allowed to go to the bathroom on my own.
Over the next two years, I navigated an overwhelming number of medical appointments with little interest to see the full picture - how emotional stress, cognition and the nervious system are deeply intertwined, how sleep is more important than anyone wants to admit and that daily habits and our enviorment plays a big role in our wellbeing. Piece by piece I had to learn how to listen to my body instead of fighting it.
My education helped me when the doctors couldn't, my education taught me about the nervous system, how anxiety can live in the body long before it becomes conscious thought, and how cognition, emotion and physiology are never separate system.s I learned about attention, perception, emotional regulation, altered states of consciousness and the brain's capacity to adapt.
Understanding the brain didn't magically fix my body, but it gave me orientation when everything felt chaotic. It taught me how to work with my biology instead of fighting it, how small, intentional actions could calm a system stuck in survival mode, and how change often begins before it feels safe. That knowledge helped me rebuild trust in myself when external certainty was missing, and reminded me that healing is rarely linear.
Both these experiences changed me, I'm not healed, but I'm becoming a little better every day.
Coaching for me is not about fixing people. It's about creating a safe enviornment where emotions are allowed, patterns can be seen clearly, and action becomes possible. If you're someone with creativity, vision or ambition and still doubt yourself, or have fear of being misunderstood - I know how powerful it is to have just one person who believes in you.
Real change doesn't come from waiting for the perfect moment or circumstance, it comes from action, taken in alignment with what actually matters to you. Whether on stage or in a coaching session, you will be met with presence, honesty and a deep respect for your inner world.
I know this story holds both struggle and depth. It's not shared to focus on what's heavy, but to give context to who I am today. I believe in optimisim, in choosing light where possible, and living life together rahter than pretending we have to handle everything alone. I'm a person who genuinely loves joy, laughing, smiling creating, encouraging others, reflecting and growing. I value warmth, balance, and honesty in the way I move through the world.
Music gives me a way to share my story.
Coaching gives me a way to help other shape theirs.
If you've read all this, I wanna say thank you for taking your time.
